Developer of all things supporting the creation and application of web-based simulations

I was born in the Los Angeles area, but grew up in New Jersey just outside New York City. So, yes, I'm a "Joysey" boy at heart! I went to college in the Northeast studying geology, geophysics, applied math and philosophy. In 1980, after burning out as a graduate student and not having a nickel to my name, I left the Ph.D. program I was in to experience life outside of academia. I immediately stumbled into a job where I was able to use the programming skills I had acquired as student to write interfaces and algorithms to schedule radio station commercials for the largest AM radio station in New York City. I have been programming in some form or another ever since.

In 1994, I was very fortunate to be working as a technical staff member in a group at Los Alamos National Laboratory that was devoted entirely to using simulation technology to solve complex real-world problems. It was while working in this group that I discovered how to apply my passion for philosophy to systems modeling. This experience exposed me to the visionary simulation application ExtendSim which was invented by Bob Diamond and his company, Imagine That, Inc. in San Jose, CA.

Over the next 25 years, I worked or consulted for many different companies and organizations including Apple, Intel, Boeing, Citibank, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Monsanto, Florida Power & Light, and others to use my skills as a simulation modeler to solve complex problems and provide decision support to managers, designers, and engineers.

I am presently working for Imagine That, Inc. to develop cutting edge simulation technologies and make simulation accessible to and useful for a much broader user base. In order to accomplish this, I am becoming a full-stack developer to facilitate web-based simulation. I have developed backend applications that enable Imagine That's customers to remotely run ExtendSim simulations on servers from their client machines without having to install ExtendSim. I am excited about developing novel ways of using web interfaces to enable people to reap the benefits of this obscure, but wonderfully powerful and useful technology.

I am currently living in the Sacramento area where I have been living since the summer of 2017. I have one son and a grandson who also live in the Sacramento area.
